Frequently Asked Questions

  • Are you supporting some cause?
Yes, we are hoping our party will facilitate happy connections between strangers who ride the T together each day. We hope to to warm the T atmosphere, which is too often as chilled as the Charles River in winter. Lastly we support taxation with representation.
  • Why the B Line?
The B Line is just about the slowest form of transportation in the whole city of Boston. That makes for a longer party!

  • Can I really play music at the Boston T Party?
Everyone is welcome to bring their instruments and jam. We may need to stop the music if it disturbs the driver, and have everyone quickly find a seat . . . If you would like to be an official sponsored artist (with your name on this site) then email a sound or video clip to

  • Cover Charge?
You must pay to get on the T as usual, $2.00 cash, $1.75 with a Charlie Card and free with a monthly pass.

  • Is this illegal?
Food has been allowed on the Boston T since it was first built. But be aware that drinking alcoholic beverages is strictly forbidden at the Boston T Party. If you insist on drinking, please do so in moderation before joining the party. Also the music must stop if it disturbs the driver.

  • Is it okay to wear Pants?
We expect most guests to remain fully clothed, but you never know what may happen!

  • Who is behind BostonTParty.org?
Many people have thought about partying on the T, indeed many already have. JonathanLansey and his flatmate, Ikemefuna Agbanusi, sketched out this particular plan one late night on the T when a kind stranger gave them delicious cupcakes, with funfetti! It has since developed with help and encouragement from their amazing friends.

  • What is the Boston Tea Party?
The very first Boston Tea Party was in 1773. To read more about it see wikipedia.
